Kate Hudson, known for her roles in films like “Almost Famous,” recently shared her hesitation about tying the knot with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. Appearing on “The Drew Barrymore Show” on Monday, the 45-year-old actress revealed that after more than three years of engagement, she remains in no hurry to make things official.

Instead, Hudson emphasized her love for freedom, explaining that the contractual nature of marriage feels restrictive to her. She also noted her preference for staying engaged indefinitely, a concept that resonates deeply with her personal values.

Hudson and Fujikawa, a musician and actor, began dating in 2016 after 15 years of friendship. They welcomed their daughter, Rani Rose, in 2018 and got engaged in September 2021. Hudson announced the engagement on Instagram before showcasing her diamond ring at the 2021 Met Gala.

Yet, despite the milestone, Hudson admitted she lacks excitement for wedding planning. She described the process as daunting, citing high costs and logistical challenges. Moreover, Hudson humorously mentioned considering elopement but still wanting traditional wedding gifts like a gravy boat.

Additionally, Hudson pointed to her upbringing as a factor in her views on marriage. Raised by her mother, Goldie Hawn, and Hawn’s longtime partner, Kurt Russell, Hudson noted that the couple never married despite being together since 1983.

She recalled that Hawn and Russell have been engaged since she was 7, illustrating a model of commitment without a formal contract. This example has clearly influenced Hudson’s perspective, as she values the flexibility of a non-traditional relationship.

Hudson, also a mother to two sons from previous relationships—Ryder Robinson with ex-husband Chris Robinson and Bingham Hawn Bellamy with ex Matt Bellamy—seems content with her current dynamic. Meanwhile, Fujikawa, 38, has not publicly commented on Hudson’s stance. However, their long-standing bond suggests a mutual understanding. Transitioning from friends to partners, the couple has built a solid foundation over nearly a decade.

In short, Hudson’s remarks reveal a modern take on love and commitment. While she cherishes her relationship with Fujikawa, the actress prioritizes independence over societal expectations. Consequently, fans remain curious about whether the pair will ever walk down the aisle—or if they’ll follow in Hawn and Russell’s footsteps with a lifelong engagement.
