Jessica Simpson is turning heartbreak into music as she navigates life after her split from Eric Johnson. The singer and fashion mogul, 44, is embracing a fresh start following the end of her 10-year marriage to the former NFL player.

With her highly personal album Nashville Canyon set to release on March 21, Simpson is channeling her emotions into songwriting, describing the process as the most intense yet enlightening therapy she has ever experienced.

“Through the deepest heartbreak of my life, writing music helped me heal,” she said in an intimate conversation with her sister, Ashlee Simpson.

    Jessica’s Journey of Self-Discovery

Simpson and Johnson, who share three children—Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5—confirmed their separation in January. Sources say their relationship had been struggling for months, with financial stress and differing priorities playing a role.

During a visit to Nashville in 2023, Simpson realized she needed to be in the city to reconnect with herself and her music. “All of a sudden, I saw the light: I had to be in Nashville,” she shared.

Her trip marked a turning point, and she soon began working on her first album in 15 years. The experience allowed her to rediscover her artistic voice, free from industry constraints. “It was always about following pop music trends, even if I didn’t love what I was singing,” she admitted. Now, as an independent artist, she is calling the shots.

    A New Chapter Begins

Simpson’s personal transformation has been years in the making. After battling addiction to alcohol and pills, she became sober in 2017. In 2019, she made headlines for losing 100 pounds after the birth of her youngest child. Now, she is focused on rebuilding her life and career on her own terms.

“She’s undergone a massive transformation, and it’s like she finally knows who she is,” a source revealed. “She’s more comfortable in her skin now than ever before.”

As for her future, Simpson isn’t ruling out romance but is prioritizing her own happiness. “She wants to make sure she doesn’t lose herself again,” the insider added. “It’s a delicate balance.”

With her upcoming album and a renewed sense of self, Simpson is stepping into this new phase with confidence. “To the girl I was, I love you. To the woman I am, I am proud of you,” she wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post.
