In its Q3 2025 report, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that “Grand Theft Auto VI” will launch this Fall on next-gen consoles. The announcement also revealed plans for Nintendo Switch 2 support, stirring excitement among gamers. With record franchise sales fueling high expectations, industry analysts predict this release will redefine gaming experiences.

Take-Two Interactive, the game’s publisher, recently announced that “Grand Theft Auto VI” will still be released this Fall.

Thanks to the release of games like “Mafia: The Old Country” in the summer, “Grand Theft Auto VI” in the fall, and “orderlands 4” in the winter, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, according to Rockstar Games’ parent company’s financial report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025.

In its most recent financial reports, Take-Two Interactive acknowledged the number of copies sold for certain franchises and games, in addition to maintaining that “Grand Theft Auto VI” will still be released this Fall.

Overall, the “Grand Theft Auto” series has sold more than 440 million units, with an incredible 210 million units sold for “Grand Theft Auto V”—nearly half of this total. Contrarily, “Red Dead Redemption” has become the second best-selling game in the United States in terms of both units and dollars sold, and the series as a whole has sold over 95 million units. The bulk of this success can be attributed to “Red Dead Redemption 2,” which sold over 70 million units globally.

A major contributor to Take-Two’s recurring consumer spending, the NBA 2K series has sold over 155 million units globally and is still going strong.

According to Nintendo Everything, CEO Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two has also stated that the publisher plans to support the Nintendo Switch 2. With a long history of cooperation, Take-Two has always been there to back Nintendo’s platform when it made sense.

Zelnick claims that Nintendo’s systems can now accommodate any demographic, implying that the publisher may fund the next console with a wider variety of games that aren’t necessarily targeted at kids.

“Grand Theft Auto VI’s” expected arrival on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in a few months is great news, although a delay is always conceivable. Since its release is anticipated to be the largest entertainment launch ever, a lot is riding on its success. Regardless of when it launches, it will most likely be a huge hit.
