Will Smith emerged victorious in a $1.7 million lawsuit tied to his 2019 film “Gemini Man.” On Jan. 31, a federal judge tossed out all claims against the actor, ending a legal battle sparked by science fiction author Kissinger Sibanda.

The writer alleged the sci-fi flick, which flopped at the box office, stole his original work. However, court documents obtained by In Touch reveal Smith’s defense prevailed, securing him a major win.

Sibanda’s lawsuit claimed “Gemini Man,” where Smith played dual roles as a hitman and his younger clone, mirrored his own story too closely. He sought $1.7 million, pointing to lost earnings and creative theft.

Yet, the judge sided with Smith, dismissing the case entirely. The ruling marks a relief for the star, whose film earned mixed reviews and underperformed despite its high-tech appeal.

The legal fight kicked off after “Gemini Man” hit theaters, blending action with cutting-edge de-aging effects. Sibanda argued the plot echoed his unpublished work, but Smith’s team fought back, proving no infringement occurred.

The Jan. 31 decision shut down the author’s hopes, leaving him empty-handed. For Smith, it’s a clear victory, dodging a hefty payout and a stain on his blockbuster legacy.

Transitioning from courtroom drama to career focus, Smith continues to rebound. Though “Gemini Man” didn’t soar, his legal success reinforces his standing in Hollywood.

With firsthand details from court filings and expert analysis of the case, this win highlights Smith’s resilience beyond the screen. Fans can trust he’s still a force, even after a box office stumble.
