Wendy Williams, once the queen of daytime talk, is reportedly feeling trapped inside her New York City assisted-living facility, with insiders fearing she may never regain her freedom. Sources close to the former TV host say she is desperate to escape but faces an uncertain future as she remains under a strict conservatorship.

Williams, 60, has been under a court-ordered guardianship since 2022 after financial concerns led Wells Fargo to freeze her accounts, claiming she was “incapacitated.” Now, despite her pleas to leave, those in charge of her care have reportedly refused to release her until a medical reevaluation is complete—a process that could take months or longer.

Williams Compares Life in Conservatorship to ‘Prison’

Williams has made it clear she is unhappy with her current situation. During a rare public appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show in January, she insisted she was not cognitively impaired but described her life as feeling like she was “in prison.”

Loved ones are growing increasingly worried about her well-being, with one insider revealing that she is “climbing the walls” in frustration. They added that the delays in her medical reevaluation are only making matters worse, leaving Williams feeling hopeless about her chances of regaining independence.

Her family remains skeptical about the claims that she is too debilitated to care for herself. A source previously told RadarOnline.com that they do not believe Williams’ condition is severe enough to justify keeping her locked away. However, their efforts to challenge the conservatorship have reportedly made little progress.

Concerns Grow as Williams Remains Isolated

Despite Williams’ protests, her guardians have strictly controlled her access to the outside world. Sources say she is only permitted to leave for special occasions, such as her father’s recent birthday celebration.

“She needs to feel fresh air on her skin, but her handlers are keeping her locked away,” an insider said. “They say it’s for her own safety, but her loved ones aren’t buying that.”

Williams’ legal team and family members are said to be growing increasingly frustrated by the roadblocks preventing her release. One source described the legal red tape surrounding her case as an “epic problem” that could take months, if not years, to resolve.

Meanwhile, Williams is reportedly holding onto hope for a fresh start. But as long as the conservatorship remains in place, those dreams may never become a reality.
