Netflix’s Squid Game 3 is set to premiere on June 27, 2025, and fans are bracing for what could be the most shocking season yet. A major theory suggests that Gi-hun, the show’s central character, may undergo a dramatic transformation that turns him from hero to villain. If this theory holds, it could be one of the most controversial twists in the series’ history.

Could Gi-hun Become the Next Front Man in Squid Game 3?

Since its debut in 2021, Squid Game has captivated audiences with its brutal survival games and psychological depth. Now, speculation is growing that Squid Game 3 will see Gi-hun follow in the footsteps of the Front Man, the masked enforcer who oversees the deadly tournament.

The theory stems from Gi-hun’s experiences in Squid Game 2, where his rebellion against the system ended in failure, leading to the deaths of many players, including his childhood friend Park Jung-bae. The loss could push him into despair, leading him to abandon his morality and embrace the same system he once fought against.

Adding weight to this theory, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has acknowledged that Gi-hun shares striking similarities with the Front Man. Both men were previous winners of the deadly game, suffered from lactose intolerance, and were manipulated by the system. In Squid Game 2, the Front Man shared how his life spiraled after being dismissed from the police force, which forced him into the game. If Gi-hun experiences a similar breaking point, he could find himself walking the same dark path.

A Redemption Arc or a Tragic Ending in Squid Game 3?

While some fans believe Squid Game 3 will see Gi-hun fully embrace his darker side, others think the story will come full circle with a redemption arc. The theory suggests that the current Front Man may reconsider his own role, helping Gi-hun reclaim his humanity and fight back against the organization.

Since Squid Game 3 marks the conclusion of Gi-hun’s journey, it is expected to deliver a high-stakes finale with lasting consequences. Will Gi-hun truly abandon his principles, or will he find a way to dismantle the deadly game from within?

With the premiere date set for June 27, fans won’t have to wait long to see how Squid Game 3 wraps up this intense and thought-provoking story.
