Sam Asghari shared details of his ill-fated marriage to Britney Spears and divulged that the “Toxic” singer’s conservatorship was the “weirdest thing” he was forced to confront.

The 30-year-old actor confessed that he expected Spears’ colossal fame would be the biggest obstacle he would have to deal with.

“One day I start learning about what the conservatorship is, and that’s when I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I thought I’m in America. What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents?’ That was the most difficult and weird spiral thing that I’ve witnessed in my life,” Asghari stated during an appearance on Kate and Oliver Hudson’s “Sibling Rivalry” podcast.

The Jackpot! Star divulged that supporting Spears at the time was the “best thing” he could do for her. Asghari added he had to handle that experience “very gently” because “if you do anything wrong, you say the wrong thing.”

Without a doubt, Asghari stayed by Spears’ side and supported the “Oops!…I Did It Again” hitmaker during the “Free Britney” movement as she fought to be released from the shackles of a harsh court-mandated conservatorship that controlled every aspect of her life for 13 years and had been spearheaded by her father, Jamie Spears.

“One of the hardest things, I think, to deal with when you go into entertainment is your parents and the people around you, and everything that happens, and everybody that comes into your life that’s taken advantage — that damages you because those are the people that are closest to you,” Asghari continued.

“Usually, the people that are around you, the people that you allow into your circle, you kind of are vulnerable to them. They take an advantage because they think, you know, you you owe something to them or something, which is so ridiculous,” the Special Ops: Lioness actor said.

Spears was in a conservatorship since 2008 until it was terminated in November 2021. Though the “Every Time” songstress and Hot Seat actor ended their marriage, Asghari admitted that he does not have any regret, saying, “I’m always gonna be grateful and happy that it ever even happened.”

For starters, Spears and Asghari tied the knot in June 2022 and announced their separation in August 2023. The ex-lovers finalized their divorce in May 2024.
