Rihanna and A$AP Rocky plan to name their next child after his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, following a major courtroom victory. On Wednesday, a jury found A$AP Rocky not guilty of two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The charges stemmed from a 2021 shooting incident involving his former friend, A$AP Relli. The “Praise the Lord” rapper, 36, faced up to 24 years in prison if convicted. Instead, he walked free, sparking joy for him, Rihanna, and their family.
Tacopina, the attorney who guided A$AP Rocky to this win after a nearly four-week trial, shared the couple’s surprising pledge. He said Rihanna and A$AP Rocky grabbed him after the verdict and promised their next baby would carry his name. Tacopina recalled their words: They told him their next child would be “A$AP Joe.” He laughed and said he’d hold them to it. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky already share two sons, RZA, 2, and Riot, 1. Now, Tacopina’s name might join the family tree.
The courtroom moment turned emotional fast. A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, nearly collapsed with relief as the verdict came in. He hugged his legal team and turned to Rihanna, who sat in the front row with loved ones. Tacopina noted Rocky started celebrating after the first count, worrying him briefly. He told his partner to pull Rocky back until all counts were read. Thankfully, the second not-guilty verdict followed, securing the rapper’s freedom.
    A$AP Rocky’s Emotional Victory
The stakes couldn’t have been higher for A$AP Rocky. Tacopina explained that Rocky didn’t know if he’d go home to his kids or face a decade in prison that day. After the win, A$AP Rocky thanked his lawyer personally. He told Tacopina he appreciated how hard he fought and everything he did. Tacopina called it a special moment, praising Rocky’s gratitude amid such a intense time. Rihanna, meanwhile, took to Instagram to celebrate. She wrote that the glory belongs to God and expressed her thanks and humility.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Family Future
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed RZA in May 2022 and Riot in August 2023. The couple, known for their music and style, now look ahead after this legal scare. Tacopina said A$AP Rocky even told him he loved him and saw him as family. For Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, the victory marked a fresh start. They left an afterparty together, smiling and relieved. The promise to name a child after Tacopina adds a quirky twist to their story.
This case tested Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, but they emerged stronger. With two kids already and possibly more on the way, their bond with Tacopina stands out. For now, fans await more news—and maybe a little “A$AP Joe” in the future.
