The estate of O.J. Simpson is embroiled in legal battles as his lawyer attempts to evict his son Justin from the late NFL star’s Las Vegas residence. Malcolm LaVergne, the attorney handling Simpson’s estate, argues that Justin Simpson has no legal right to live on the property after his father’s death.
    Estate vs. Justin Simpson
Following O.J. Simpson’s death on April 10, 2024, from prostate cancer, LaVergne filed a lawsuit against Justin, 36, claiming he moved into the home without permission. The property, purchased by Justin’s company, Primary Holdings, in 2022, is at the center of this dispute. LaVergne insists this was a maneuver to protect the asset from creditors, contrary to O.J.’s will which mandated an equal distribution of his assets among his four children.
    Debts and Legal Claims
The estate’s situation is complicated by substantial debts, including a $117 million claim by Ron Goldman’s father, Fred, stemming from a civil judgment against O.J. for the wrongful deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Additionally, a $500,000 tax lien from California further pressures the estate to liquidate assets like the Las Vegas home.
    Auction and Missing Items
To address these financial obligations, the estate has started auctioning off O.J.’s personal items, including some contentious personal effects. LaVergne has also noted “strong resistance” in settling these debts, with several of O.J.’s valuable possessions reportedly missing, adding another layer of complexity to the estate’s management.
    The Fight for Control
Justin Simpson counters the eviction claim by asserting his ownership through Primary Holdings. This legal tussle not only reflects the financial aftermath of O.J. Simpson’s life but also the ongoing familial and legal disputes over his legacy.
