The British royal family has reportedly dismissed Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix venture, With Love, Meghan, showing no interest in watching the series that premiered on Tuesday.
Sources close to the palace claim King Charles III and other senior royals remain largely unaware of the show’s release. An insider told Vanity Fair that the monarch is too preoccupied with his royal duties to tune in and already knows plenty about beekeeping—a topic explored in the first episode.
Royal family unconcerned with Meghan’s latest project
The eight-part lifestyle series features Markle sharing tips on cooking, gardening, and hosting, emphasizing “playfulness over perfection.” However, those close to the royal family believe there is little value in watching.
“There’s very little to actually learn from Meghan’s TV show. I suspect the royals will be quite dismissive of it. I can’t imagine Prince William and Kate sitting down to watch it. Why would they?” a royal insider reportedly said.
The lack of interest follows years of tension between the Sussexes and the royal family, dating back to Meghan and Prince Harry’s dramatic departure from royal duties in 2020. While Markle has positioned her show as a fresh start, critics argue it’s another attempt to remain in the spotlight.
Poor reviews and audience reception
Despite its placement in Netflix’s Top 10 shortly after release, With Love, Meghan has faced heavy criticism. The Daily Telegraph described it as “an exercise in narcissism,” while The Guardian labeled it “pointless.” Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes scored it a mere 38%, while IMDb users rated it 2.7/10.
Additionally, social media users mocked the series, with some calling it “insufferable” and others questioning Meghan’s credibility as a lifestyle expert.
The Netflix show is Markle’s first solo project since signing a reported $100 million deal with the streaming giant alongside Prince Harry. It follows previous productions, including the docuseries Harry & Meghan and Heart of Invictus, both of which received mixed responses.
A royal cold shoulder
Markle’s latest effort appears to have done little to mend the fractured relationship with the royal family. While she and Harry have emphasized their desire for independence, critics argue that the couple continues to capitalize on their royal connections.
With Buckingham Palace remaining silent on the matter, it’s clear that With Love, Meghan will not be receiving any royal endorsements.
