Meghan Markle, 43, playfully corrected Mindy Kaling on her Netflix series “With Love, Meghan,” which debuted March 4, 2025.

During the second episode, Kaling, 45, kept calling her “Meghan Markle,” prompting the Duchess of Sussex to interject. She told Kaling it’s funny she uses her maiden name, clarifying she’s “Sussex now”—a name shared with husband Prince Harry and their kids.

Markle explained to Kaling how meaningful the Sussex title is, tying it to her family with Harry, 40, and kids Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3. She noted it’s a bond she cherishes, part of their “little family name” and love story. Kaling, catching on, said she loves it. The exchange added a light moment to the eight-episode lifestyle show.

    Sussex Name Stakes Claim

The Duchess told People the moniker unites her, Harry, Archie, and Lili, a sentiment that “means a lot.” She imagines their kids one day asking about their parents’ romance, with Sussex as a core piece. Granted the Duke and Duchess titles in 2018 upon marrying, their children’s titles shifted to Prince and Princess of Sussex after King Charles III took the throne in 2022. Page Six confirmed Sussex as their surname in 2024.

Markle’s show, delayed from January due to L.A. wildfires, features her hosting, cooking, and gardening. Harry appears briefly in the finale with her mom, Doria Ragland, while guests like Kaling, Daniel Martin, and Delfina Figueras pop up. Her kids don’t appear but get frequent nods from their “present” mom.

    Bonding Beyond Names

Markle and Kaling connected over being “latchkey kids” and parenting joys. She called raising Archie and Lili a delight, echoing her focus on family. For now, “With Love, Meghan” puts her Sussex identity front and center, blending personal pride with her latest venture.
