Kelsea Ballerini may be dominating the country music charts, but behind the scenes, the singer-songwriter relies on therapy to navigate the emotional challenges that come with fame, heartbreak, and personal trauma. As she embarks on her first-ever arena tour, sources reveal that therapy remains a top priority for the 31-year-old star.

Trauma and Healing: Ballerini’s Lifelong Battle with PTSD

Ballerini first sought therapy at the age of 12 when her parents divorced, an event that deeply impacted her. However, her struggles intensified when, at just 15 years old, she witnessed a fatal school shooting at her high school in Knoxville, Tennessee.

That horrifying event left her traumatized for years.

“I didn’t have a great relationship with therapy until it was my decision to go,” Ballerini said. “That happened when I was 24. Now, I’m pretty religious about it, and I try to do it at least a couple times a month.”

Since then, therapy has played a vital role in her life, helping her process the lingering effects of PTSD.

From Divorce to New Love: Ballerini’s Emotional Journey

In 2022, Ballerini went through a highly publicized divorce from country singer Morgan Evans after five years of marriage. The split was painful, but therapy helped her navigate the emotional turmoil.

A close friend revealed that even now, she schedules therapy appointments while on tour to ensure she remains emotionally stable.

“Kelsea still has days where she feels overwhelmed, but she believes therapy keeps her grounded,” the source said. “Even though she’s on the road, she makes pit stops for her sessions to make sure she doesn’t go off the rails.”

In addition to helping her heal from past wounds, therapy has also helped Ballerini manage her relationship with her new boyfriend, Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes.

“She wants to make sure she’s the best version of herself, both personally and professionally,” the insider added.

Music, Mental Health, and Therapy on Tour

Ballerini’s commitment to mental health extends beyond just talking to a therapist. She even runs some of her song lyrics by her analyst to explore their deeper meaning.

Sources say her therapy sessions are among the most important appointments on her calendar—sometimes even more crucial than tour rehearsals.

“Kelsea takes therapy very seriously, and it has helped her become the artist and person she is today,” the source said. “She wants to inspire her fans by being open about the importance of mental health.”

As she continues her rise in the music industry, Ballerini is proving that prioritizing self-care and emotional well-being is just as important as topping the charts.
