Kanye West is under fire once again after posting a casting call with shocking requirements. The 47-year-old rapper announced he was assembling a choir to perform his Vultures track Carnival, but his list of criteria sparked immediate backlash.
On Saturday, West shared the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), stating that all volunteers must be male and have a skin tone as dark as Sean “Diddy” Combs. He also demanded that participants either have shaved heads or be willing to shave them.
The most disturbing part of the listing included a ban on “fat people” and a requirement that participants be “comfortable wearing swastikas.”
Social Media Erupts Over Shocking Guidelines
West’s casting call quickly went viral, with many condemning his discriminatory conditions. One user called it a disturbing example of “societal toxicity.” Another tagged X owner Elon Musk, questioning why the platform allows such content.
Critics also pointed out that West has a history of antisemitic remarks, which led to his downfall in 2022. His inflammatory comments cost him brand partnerships with Adidas and Balenciaga and resulted in a temporary suspension from social media platforms.
In December 2023, West issued an apology to the Jewish community, stating that he did not intend to cause harm. However, his recent actions suggest otherwise. Just last month, he faced backlash for selling swastika-themed merchandise on his Yeezy website, leading Shopify to shut it down.
West Stands Firm Despite Backlash
Despite widespread criticism, West remains unapologetic. In February, he declared that he would never take back his comments about Jewish people. “I can say whatever I wanna say forever,” he posted on X.
His talent agency severed ties with him shortly after, and his controversial behavior continues to isolate him from both the music industry and the public.
