Former employees accuse Justin Baldoni of promoting “toxic positivity” and integrating his faith into Wayfarer Studios’ workplace culture in a controversial report.

Ex-Employee Says Baldoni’s Positivity Felt “Phony”

Justin Baldoni is facing criticism from a former Wayfarer Studios employee who called his workplace culture “toxic” and accused him of insincere behavior. The anonymous staffer, speaking to the Los Angeles Times, claimed Baldoni recorded himself giving clothes to the homeless during his Skid Row Carnival of Love, which they felt was more for publicity than genuine charity.

The employee also said Baldoni required workers to sign emails with “so much love,” creating an environment of forced positivity that felt excessive. They expressed skepticism toward people who brand themselves as disruptors of the status quo or as inherently good.

Other employees shared concerns about Baldoni’s Baháʼí Faith playing a significant role in the company. Some felt it was “professionally inappropriate” for the actor to discuss his beliefs so openly in a work setting.

    Faith Allegedly Influenced Work Culture

According to multiple employees, Baldoni’s faith was deeply integrated into Wayfarer Studios’ projects and values. One worker claimed Baháʼí teachings were a driving force in decision-making and frequently influenced workplace discussions.

Another described Baldoni’s approach as “evangelizing,” stating that discussions about faith felt unavoidable at the company.

In response, Wayfarer Studios and Baldoni denied any wrongdoing. The company stated there had never been any formal complaints regarding workplace culture. A spokesperson explained that employees were encouraged to practice their own beliefs freely, and any guidance on professional communication was intended to uphold the company’s ethos.

The studio emphasized that positivity and joy are central to its work philosophy, standing by the belief that an uplifting environment fosters creativity and success.

    Supporters Defend Baldoni Amid Criticism

Despite the backlash, several former employees defended Baldoni’s leadership and intentions. His former assistant, Melissa Ames, described him as a highly creative individual with a strong spiritual side. She praised his efforts to help others and called her time at Wayfarer one of the best experiences of her life.

Another former worker said Baldoni had a genuine heart and was still learning how to run a company after gaining financial success. They pointed out that his positive impact far outweighed any alleged missteps.

A third person described Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios as “exceedingly honorable and highly ethical,” rejecting the notion that the workplace was problematic.

Legal Battle With Blake Lively Looms

The criticism of Baldoni’s workplace culture comes as he remains embroiled in a legal dispute with actress Blake Lively. In December 2024, Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, which he has strongly denied. The case is set to go to trial in March 2026, with both sides preparing for a high-profile court battle.
