Blake Lively is taking legal action to shield private messages exchanged with celebrity friends as tensions escalate in her lawsuit against actor Justin Baldoni. The actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, have requested a stronger protective order, fearing that Baldoni could leak personal conversations to the media.

The request was filed by Lively’s attorney, Meryl Conant Governski, who argued that revealing these messages could cause irreparable harm. During a virtual court hearing, she stated that Baldoni’s co-defendants have built careers on supplying information to the press, increasing the risk of leaks.

Fear of Leaks in High-Profile Case

Lively’s legal team emphasized the need to keep messages from high-profile figures confidential. They argued that these private conversations, which have no direct connection to the case, should not be made public.

Baldoni’s attorney, Briad Freedman, countered the request, claiming that Lively was asking for preferential treatment because of her celebrity status. He maintained that all involved parties had already taken steps to avoid exposing third-party names in the lawsuit.

Judge Lewis Liman, who presided over the virtual hearing, has yet to rule on the request.

Legal Battle Intensifies Between Lively and Baldoni

Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni, filed in December 2024, accuses him of sexual harassment on the set of their film It Ends With Us. Baldoni has strongly denied the allegations and responded with a $400 million countersuit for defamation and extortion, naming Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist as defendants.

Court filings have hinted at the involvement of Taylor Swift, a longtime friend of Lively, who was reportedly referenced as a “megacelebrity friend” in legal documents. Baldoni has alleged that Lively used her relationship with Swift to exert influence over casting and creative decisions during the film’s production.

The ongoing case has drawn significant public attention, particularly as Lively continues to fight for privacy protection over messages that could involve other A-list celebrities.

With the judge’s decision on the protective order still pending, the case continues to unfold, keeping Hollywood on edge.
