Aron Solomon Returns to NBC Bay Area as the Elizabeth Holmes Jury Deliberates

NBC Bay Area reporter Scott Budman returned to the San Jose court house last night to cover the latest developments in the Elizabeth Holmes trial, and what to expect as the jury deliberates.

Now 16-hours into jury deliberations, 12 people are painstakingly working to determine the fate of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. Esquire Digital’s Aron Solomon joined Budman to take a look into the minds of these 12 jurors, and what they might be thinking as they deliberate.

According to Solomon, “The jury needs the time and the space to think out, and to talk out, all of the angles of the case.”

With 9 counts of fraud and 2 counts of conspiracy on the table, not to mention 3.5 months of testimony and cross examination, some court watchers tell us, this could take awhile.

Solomon continued, “I would personally be surprised, given all of the evidence we’ve seen in this case, if this is going to be 12 people who from second one see all of the legal issues the same way.”

Some have speculated that with the holidays looming, the jury might want to wrap up as soon as possible.  Solomon, however; believes the jury has a clear understanding of how much weight their decision holds:

“We’ve got a woman, who was a 19-year old startup founder, who is a new mom, who could be facing decades in prison. I think the jury is going to take that responsibility with as much gravitas, in a serious manner, as they should.”

Budman concluded his report by explaining what to expect over the next few days: “Here’s the timeline: the court is dark tomorrow, the jury due back to deliberate in court starting Thursday morning. If we don’t get a verdict on Thursday, things move into next week.”
