Alec Baldwin is under fire after viewers of The Baldwins accused him of portraying himself as a victim while addressing his potential Hollywood exit. The Beetlejuice star, 66, made headlines when he suggested stepping away from acting to focus on his family. However, critics claim he is using his reality show as a platform to shift focus from his involvement in the Rust shooting tragedy.

Baldwin Considers Leaving Hollywood for Good

On the March 16 episode of The Baldwins, the actor reflected on his career and hinted at retiring from Hollywood. When asked if he planned to return to acting, Baldwin stated that he was dedicating his time to raising his children.

He explained that many of his successful friends regretted missing time with their families due to their careers. Baldwin admitted he did not want to make the same mistake, adding that having children later in life gave him a different perspective.

The actor, who shares seven children with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, insisted that he wants to prioritize family over work. However, some critics believe his emotional speech was a calculated attempt to gain sympathy amid ongoing controversy.

    Critics Slam Baldwin’s ‘Victim Narrative’

Despite Baldwin’s claim that he is focusing on his family, sources say audiences are not convinced. An insider told RadarOnline.com that the actor is delusional if he thinks Hollywood would mourn his departure.

The source stated that Baldwin has a history of scandals, from his infamous voicemail message to his daughter to the Rustshooting. They argued that he has not had a major box-office success in years and dismissed his claims of leaving the industry as attention-seeking behavior.

Baldwin’s TLC reality show has also faced harsh criticism. Some viewers compared watching the series to being stuck on a chaotic family vacation. Others accused the actor of making everything about himself instead of honoring Rustcinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who died in the tragic on-set shooting.

A source previously stated that Baldwin’s attempt to use the show to rebuild his image could backfire. They argued that promoting a reality series while facing scrutiny over the Rust incident was insensitive.

    Legal Battle and Public Perception

Baldwin was indicted for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the Rust shooting, though he has denied pulling the trigger. His legal team successfully argued that prosecutors withheld key evidence, leading to the case’s dismissal.

Despite avoiding conviction, Baldwin continues to face public backlash. Many critics believe his reality show fails to address the true impact of Hutchins’ death, instead focusing on his own struggles.

As controversy swirls around Baldwin’s Hollywood future, it remains to be seen whether his latest statements will earn him sympathy or further damage his reputation.
