Dank Demoss cites discrimination after a Lyft driver denied her service due to her weight. The influencer took to social media last week to share her shocking experience, where she can be seen talking to a driver named Abraham, who refused to let her into his car due to his fear that she was too heavy.

The Lyft driver told Dank he would cancel the ride and assured the musician she would not be charged. She told Abraham she had never had problems in other vehicles due to her weight.

In the viral clip, Dank tells the driver how she can fit in her best friend’s Mercedes Benz, which is “newer” than his vehicle. Abraham does not budge and maintains that he has “very tired tires” and that she should “order Uber XL.”

“This MF said I can’t fit his car, so he gotta cancel my ride!” Dank wrote in the video, which was initially captured on January 19.

“Am I wrong? @Lyft what y’all got to say about this y’all driver discriminated against me…I just feel like y’all treat big people like s**t like we don’t belong here,” the rapper penned in the video’s caption, initially captured on January 19.

“So you telling me I can’t get in the Lyft because I can’t fit in your car?” Dank asked. “Yeah, you need to order a bigger car. To be very specific with you, I have very tired tires,” the driver said, whose car can be heard rumbling while in the park.

Fans were quick to react to Dank’s claims of discrimination. While some netizens sided with the Lyft driver, others claimed that the Detroit-based influencer should have canceled the ride immediately since the car sounded problematic.

“As a plus-size female, we know what it is—it’s time to slim down,” one netizen said, while another shared, “His car sounds like a lawnmower anyway.” A third source wrote, “I personally don’t think he wanted to be offensive… I’m sorry she experienced this, but this is NOT a lawsuit. “As another user claimed, “Baby, he worried about his suspension.”

On Monday, Dank took to social media to announce that she is moving forward with a lawsuit related to the incident. She even posted a photo of herself alongside her two lawyers.

“IF ION STAND FOR SOMETHING ILL FALL FOR ANYTHING. THANK YOU TO MY LAWYERS MARKO & ZACH RUNYAN! FIGHTING FOR MY COMMUNITY MY PEOPLE AND MAKING CHANGE TO THE WORLD NOT JUST FOR ME BUT EVERYONE. THANK YOU TO MY TEAM AND ALL THE SUPPORT IM GETTING,” Dank penned in the trending post.

The message rapidly garnered attention, although admirers seem ambivalent over the appropriateness of her decision to initiate legal action. Some assert that the man was honest and not impolite in his desire to protect his vehicle, as Lyft does not provide coverage for damages, while others argue that she should “receive her compensation.”
